What stops people from getting started and making progress?

What is holding them back?

According to research, 80% of success is psychology and mindset and only 20% is the strategy.

Doubt, procrastination, anxiety, and unfulfillment are a few states that we experience when we have some dreams and ideas and we also know we can do more and better but we don’t proceed with the most important part which is taking action to make them real.

What is a bit more difficult to recognize is that these are just some ‘symptoms’. There is a deeper reason that stops us from taking action, which is hidden behind these states/ ‘symptoms’. This is Fear -fear that we are not good enough, that we won’t be loved, fear of failure.

So how do we break free from fear? An important distinction to help you approach anything you want to master is this: Courage is not not having fear, it’s having fear and doing it anyway. Stepping into our courage is the only way to start. We cannot wait until it’s perfect. ideal or comfortable, because this will never happen. Small daily steps will create massive growth over time. Remember change is automatic, but progress is not.

I believe that we usually overestimate what we can do in a few months or a year (and we usually get disappointed and quit if we don’t succeed because well..we tried) but we always underestimate what we can do in 5-10 years if we don’t quit!

1***What most people believe is that they must make huge changes straight ahead,  but this is exactly what makes progress and new habits overwhelming, this is also the number one cause of procrastination and the reason you get stuck! We don’t have to make dramatic changes overnight to change our lives. We can sure do a tiny daily change that will lead us to a different path. Just keep in mind you are not your behaviors or your past, the fact that you may haven’t followed through with something in the past doesn’t mean it will happen again.

2***Do not let your memories and past keep you from creating an amazing present and future! Find the deep reason Why you want to start this new goal and wake up every day to take action and reach a step closer to it. If you wake up every day knowing that what you will do today will help another person change their lives, or what you’ll do today will help you be closer to your family and friends, or travel the world, or leave the world a better place? What is closer to your heart that will give you strong enough reasons to go on even the hardest days? Please make sure you remember why you even started dreaming in the first place.

3***From today on I suggest you stop identifying yourself as being the one that is doubtful, that procrastinates, that leaves everything for tomorrow or next Monday, that hates mornings, or anything else that you say you are but is not helping you. You cannot believe what a difference wording makes. Starting today start identifying yourself as a person of action and soon enough you will become one. I used to be the number one person that procrastinates all the time! Even if I had deadlines to meet, I would meet them of course but I would be running until the last minute. I would be telling myself and everyone else that I’m definitely not a morning person for years, and I believed that! Change the words you use and you change your life!

4***Be realistic about where you are now. Most of the times we tell ourselves that we are fine where we are, how we are etc it is like you automatically say to yourself that it’s alright, that you don’t really need to do something about this, and this leads to you not taking action. So try and think where you are now point A- and where you want to go point B. After preparing that, ask some nice and realistic questions to yourself in order to bridge the gap between point A and B: Is there any more skills I could get? Do I need to change my mindset to reach my goal? Can I find some people that have already succeeded in what I’m after?

Always remember that taking daily action is uncomfortable at the beginning, but it’s the only way to move away from fear and worries. Also, once you do it and see the kind of freedom and confidence you gain it gets addictive, trust me.

This is all information I’ve gathered and experienced personally and I would love to see you taking action! So I do have a task for you, For the next 10 days every time you’re thinking of leaving something for tomorrow, I want you to think that now you are a person of action that takes action directly! Take the time and do the exercise about your point A and B, and also think deeply about Why you really MUST take action to succeed! So, in the next 10 days, I want you to create opportunities for yourself and take small daily inconvenient actions. It can be something really small like calling someone that can help you with your goals and just ask for help or something bigger. Be creative!

Do these things and your future self will definitely thank you for that- it’s simply self-love! Care for yourself as you would care for your loved ones!
